Our story

Every blind we make starts with a story that began in 1982, when engineer Krister Lindberg crafted his first wooden pieces in a small garage on the Åland Islands. What started as a modest idea soon grew into a full-time craft, driven by a passion for quality and precision. As the workshop evolved, the focus shifted from simple flower stands to finely crafted wooden blinds, setting a new standard in design and durability.

Today

More than 40 years later, Scandinavian Designer Blinds still follows the same principles. Each blind is shaped, sanded and assembled in-house by skilled craftsmen, using carefully selected hardwoods. To ensure a perfect result, every piece goes through a 15-step quality control process that checks everything from structure to finish.

Custom blinds since 1982

1.

Where it all started

In 1982, engineer Krister Lindberg began crafting wooden flower stands in a small Åland garage. What started as a simple idea led to the creation of our very first handcrafted wooden blinds.

2.

Crafting our vision

As interest grew, so did our ambition. We improved the design and function, always handmade in our own workshop. Each blind showed our focus on detail and the beauty of simple, clean design.

3.

Perfecting the process

Over the years, every part of our process has been refined into fifteen precise steps, from sawing and sanding to the final inspection.

4.

Today

Our blinds bring together traditional craftsmanship and modern functionality. Using only premium hardwoods and a wide range of finishes, each piece is tailored to complement any interior.
